New toilet for allotments follows donation
Rothwell Allotment Association chairman Emma Ainscough receives a 200 cheque from Cllr Margaret Talbot as secretary Lisa Chambers looks on
Gardeners have bought a new shed and toilet after a donation from a councillor.
A new shed and chemical toilet should be ready at Rothwell Allotments in Desborough Road by Saturday, February 25, after a donation from Rothwell ward councillor Margaret Talbot.
Rothwell Allotment Association chairman Emma Ainscough said: “We have written to a number of local people and businesses in order to try to raise funds, unfortunately a great number of our efforts have been rejected. It is hard work and quite demoralising when the responses are either non-existent or negative.
“Cllr Margaret Talbot, however, had a very refreshing approach and personally visited our allotments. A number of our committee members were present for the visit to discuss what we are all trying to achieve.
“Cllr Talbot was very supportive and not only donated the allotment £200 of her funding, but also provided valuable information on other local contacts who may be able to help us in the future.”
