Mamma Mia! It's the hit of the year
Singalong blockbuster musical Mamma Mia! has broken box office figures at Kettering Odeon since its release in July.
The film has taken more than 305,000 since being released at the cinema, making the movie the highest earner at Odeon cinemas in this region.
Kettering Odeon marketing manager Simon Hopkins said: "The film has been a huge success – beyond our expectations.
"One of the key things behind its success has been people coming back to see the film.
"It's also beaten the likes of Titanic and Harry Potter which have been the top two films since the cinema opened in 1997."
Mr Hopkins said the success of the film was down to offering audiences two different versions for them to watch, a standard version and a singalong version.
The original version of the film opened on July 10, before being followed by a subtitled edition giving fans the opportunity to sing along the following month.
Mr Hopkins said: "The ever popular singalong version will return for a morning screening on Wednesday December 17, for our senior screen Christmas special."
Across the UK Titanic has made more than 69m in ticket sales with Mamma Mia! making more than 66m so far.
