Hunt for murder attempt knifeman

Police have released the name and an image of the man they are hunting for after a knife attack in Lincolnshire.

Northamptonshire man Paul Longdin, 26, is wanted for a random attack on a holidaymaker at the Brandy Wharf Leisure Park, near Waddingham.

Police found a car belonging to the victim in Corby town centre on Monday evening, just hours after the attack that left Carol Couch soaked in blood.

It is thought Mr Longdin may be on the run in the Corby area.

Detective Inspector Suzanne Davies said: "This is very serious offence and my officers are working closely with Northamptonshire Police to arrest Mr Longdin."

Longdin is thought to have tricked his way into the caravan by knocking on the door to ask the woman, 59, for sugar.

When Mrs Couch's back was turned he stabbed her with a knife, puncturing her lung.

Mrs Couch from Keadby, Scunthorpe, was a regular at the site. She is still in Scunthorpe Hospital but her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Her son Dale Couch, 34, said: "I feel like the lad who did this will have a conscience and I want to appeal to him. He should come forward and hand himself in. Dad passed away last year and this has been a really difficult time for us.

"Mum and dad used to go and stay in the caravan together and so this was a sentimental place for her."
