Hundreds go online in tribute to Connor
More than 500 people have joined a Facebook group set up in memory of a boy who was killed on the A6.
Twelve-year-old Connor Roche, of Eastfield Crescent, Finedon, was riding his bike with friends on the A6 in Irthlingborough on Wednesday night when he was hit by a Land Rover.
He died at the scene after suffering serious head injuries.
His classmates at Huxlow Science College, Finedon, were all sent home with a letter about the tragedy yesterday.
And more than 500 people have joined a Facebook group called Book of Condolence for Connor Roche, with over 200 posts left for the Huxlow pupil.
They include a touching tribute from his sister Donna Meikle, who wrote: "My brother was so lovely he is so truly missed already."
On one of the Facebook sites, a discussion board has been set up called A6 Petition.
One person wrote: "I think it's time something is seriously done about this road. It has already taken a wonderful lad who we knew so well. How many more I do not know.
"My boy uses this to ride to and from school and to his mates, one of which he will never see again.
"Let's get this petition looked at seriously for Connor and his family."
Messages have been left on the Evening Telegraph's website for him and his family.
One reader wrote: "I hope this tragic accident leads to much needed improvements on the A6.
"It has high amounts of traffic, yet isn't built for it any longer."
And another person wrote: "How sad to hear of this tragic accident. My thoughts are with his family and friends at such a distressing time."
As well as tributes online, dozens of people have visited the scene of his death.
More than 30 bouquets of flowers have been placed at the side of the road where he was killed, as well as two footballs, an Arsenal scarf and shirt, teddybears and cards for the young football fan.
A friend of the family who did not want to be named said:"Someone needs to do something about that road."
