Have a great weekend with these ideas
It's the weekend and we have selected six great ideas for you to spend your time
Stock cars
LATE pop star Marc Bolan sang about a Hot Rod Mama but tomorrow it is hot rods for all.
Northampton International Raceway kicks off its 2010 season in style when the UK's fastest oval racers take to the track.
The sheer speed of the National Hot Rods on a quarter-mile oval track has to be seen to be believed.
Thrills abound as these highly tuned hatchbacks and coupes battle three and four abreast, with some hugely skillful driving on display.
The circuit is delighted that four-times World Champion Carl Boardley heads an entry of more than 30 drivers from all over the UK for this opening event.
But there is even more than that. Also on track are the Formula 2 Stock Cars, a class which has been hugely popular at the venue for many years, as well as the 1300cc Saloon Stock Cars. These armoured-up saloons and hatchbacks are always entertaining, with awesome crash and bash action plus good racing guaranteed.
The event starts at 1.30pm and the admission cost is 12 for adults and 6 for children. A family ticket is also available at 30.
The Northampton International Raceway is situated off Brafield Road, Horton, Northants NN7 2BA. Head for Brafield-on-the-Green then take the turn on the right towards Horton, and the raceway is on the right before reaching the village.
