Groups to get help unlocking money
Charities and community organisations are being offered help to unlock funding.
Kettering Voluntary Network and Corby Voluntary and Community Services have teamed up to host a funding fair at West Glebe Pavilion in Corby tomorrow and have invited all the major funders from the area to attend.
Trish Dewar, development officer for KVN, set up the fair after learning that very few community organisations are applying for funding.
Mrs Dewar said: "I went to a conference recently and learned that the major funders Big Lottery Fund and Lloyds TSB Foundation are not
receiving enough applications from organisations in Kettering and Corby.
"When I checked it out I discovered that in 2009 there were only three Big Lottery grants to the two towns.
"So what we want to do with this fair is to let people know that in spite of the current economic climate there is still funding available out there and we want to introduce charitable and voluntary groups to the organisations that can help fund their projects."
The day will be organised along the lines of a market stall event where representatives from the funding organisations will be on hand to provide leaflets and application forms and also to answer any questions.
Mrs Dewar said: "Often organisations are not aware of all that is out there and available to them. So we wanted to make representatives from the funding sources available to answer any questions people may have about funding criteria and applications."
There will also be four workshops throughout the afternoon.
Kettering Volunteer Network is based at the Business Exchange in
Rockingham Road, Kettering.
A large part of its work is aimed at finding volunteering opportunities for people from the Kettering area.
