Good value salon is on the move
A popular hairdressing salon has bucked the current economic trend by moving into larger premises.
Sarah's ladies salon has gone from strength to strength since it opened in Newton Road, Rushden, three years ago and as a result it has moved around the corner into a new building on the site of the former Bates Furniture warehouse in Rectory Road.
Owner Sarah Smith said: "I think we've gone from strength to strength because we charge reasonable prices and we provide a friendly atmosphere and a good service to clients of all ages.
"We have more room here. Everyone who has come into the new salon thinks it's very classy and we've had new customers coming in as well.
"I'd like to thank everyone who has helped me complete my dream and all our customers for their support."
Stylist Stacey Simms has been with the salon for two-and-a-half years and is pleased with the move.
She said: "It's a lot better here and more modern.
"Lots of the customers have been saying how much they like it."
Among the customers who approve is Sarah Sawinski, 45, of Rushden, who has been a client for three years.
She said: "I've just walked in and I think it's really nice.
"I come to Sarah's because it's very friendly, offers good value for money and the staff give good advice."
Prior to the opening of the ladies salon, Mrs Smith opened Sarah's Barber Shop in Newton Road in 2002.
When the lease is up on that property, she hopes to move that business next door to her new premises in Rectory Road.
The building work at Rectory Road was carried out by Mrs Smith's husband Stephen and another family member, Kev Adair, of Beech Builders.
The project was also worked on by Martin Boardman Plumbers and Northants Electrical Installations.
