Gifts follow theft at church
BIG-HEARTED well-wishers have donated money to a church after a thief stole takings from its Christmas fair.
The man stole a box containing £70 from one of the stalls at the event at St Peter and St Andrew’s Church in Beanfield Avenue, Corby.
After reading about the theft in the Evening Telegraph, people have donated £149 to the church. The money was taken from a stall manned by pensioners who were selling pots of jam and other goods.
The Rev Jan Collins said: “We have doubled our money thanks to the generous donations. It doesn’t make the theft right but it does show how good people can be in this time of need.
“I would like to thank everyone who made a donation.”
Cash was donated by another church congregation in the town and by anonymous individuals.
