Gift in memory of husband Ian
The wife of a man who lost his battle with a lung disease has donated a piece of equipment to Kettering Hospital in his memory.
Jill Baker presented a trolley to the Centenary Wing at the hospital, where her husband Ian Dean was treated.
Mr Dean died in 2002 of bronchial ecstatic disease
At his funeral service, his family and friends raised 550 in donations and that money has now been used to buy the trolley which will help provide better care for patients at the hospital.
Mrs Baker, 56, said: "My late husband suffered from bronchial ecstatic disease, which meant his lungs filled up with fluid.
"He was waiting for a heart and lung transplant but died before he was able to get it.
"While he was in the Centenary Wing during 2001-02, staff helped us a great deal.
"I had to learn how to put a drip into his chest and it was quite traumatic going through it , but the staff were very supportive of both me and my husband and I wanted to do something to say thank you.
"Presenting the trolley was a nice thing to take away, after going through what we went through and they seemed so pleased. I think it means a lot to them because it will help them put more staff on the front line."
Kettering General Hospital fundraiser Clare Coltman said: "The trolley will allow another member of staff to administer treatment to patients and although a trolley may seem like something quite basic, it will make an enormous difference to patients and their families. We can't thank Mrs Baker and her family enough."
Mrs Baker presented the trolley with her husband, Chris Baker, Ian's son Warren Dean, his step daughter Lindsay Gibson and her husband, Scott Gibson.
