Get your wellies on and walk for a great cause

“WELLIES at the ready.” That is the cry from a county firm holding a walk to raise money for a county hospice.

Robert Wiseman Dairies, which has a depot in Warth Park Way, Raunds, is bringing the Wiseman Welly Walk to the county to support the Cynthia Spencer Hospice in Northampton.

The 5km walk will take place at Delapre Abbey on Sunday, March 25, with the added bonus of a chance to name one of the dairy’s cow-print lorries.

The person who raises the most sponsorship money will be able to choose a name for one of the 86 black and white lorries which are based at the Raunds site.

The entry fee is £15 for adults and £10 for children, which includes a pair of cow print wellies, and all money raised goes straight to the hospice.

The cost is £10 for adults and £5 for children without wellies.

The walks have been held in several places around the country in the past, but this is the first in Northamptonshire.

John Jennings, manager of the depot in Raunds, said: “We want to raise as much as we can to help Cynthia Spencer Hospice continue their valuable service to the community.

“Our vehicles are a real talking point and by giving the walker who has raised the most the chance to name a vehicle we hope we can help set a fantastic total.

“Everyone at the depot is really excited about the walk.

“It’s set to be a great day out and we urge as many people as possible to sign up to take part.”

Hospice fundraising manager John Helm said: “We are dependent on the help of our community to help us continue providing our care to the people of Northamptonshire and really appreciate the help of Robert Wiseman Dairies in putting on this event.

“We hope families will come together, pull on their wellies and take part.”

Walkers can register for the event by calling 01604 678082 or emailing cshfundraising@nhft.nhs.uk.
