Fish on the Northampton-London rail menu
People who buy first class tickets to travel from Northampton to London will soon have their menus upgraded as well as their tickets.
From next Wednesday, the first class fare on Virgin trains between Northampton and the capital will include kippers for breakfast or Weetabix, as a nut-free option, and an evening meal of bacon pieces, green French beans, carrots, potatoes, apples and pears.
Shaun Hope, a member of the Northampton Rail Passengers Group, said he was wary about how well used the new service would be.
He said: "I remember travelling from Euston when there was no class distinction and you could go into the food car and get a cooked breakfast."
Other additions include chocolate shortbread, mushy peas with the Friday fish option and new all day snacks served with focaccia bread.
