Family’s appeal for accident witnesses

THE family of a man who died in a car crash has appealed for a vital witness to come forward to help them piece together how he died.

Kamrul Hassan, 28, died after his Ford Focus crashed on the A6 near Rothwell on Thursday night.

His devastated family yesterday said they were desperate to know how he died and appealed for help from members of the public to find the driver of a white car that was also in the area at the time of the accident.

Speaking from Mr Hassan’s home in Knox Road, Wellingborough, where his family had gathered to mourn, his brother-in-law and cousin Mohammed, said: “Everyone is in shock.

“The whole family is absolutely devastated by Kamrul’s death.

“Kamrul was so well-liked in the town.

“People have been coming to see us all day and phoning us.

“We would like to appeal to the driver of the white car to come forward if they have any information at all. We need to know what happened.”

Kamrul, who was travelling from Leicester when the crash happened, worked in IT for Travis Perkins in Northampton and was a trained RAF gunner.

Mohammed added: “As Muslims it’s important for us to be able to bury him as soon as possible so we are hoping the process can be carried out as soon as possible and we can get his death certificate.

“He was such a nice person, he was always helping people.

“His work has phoned us today and his colleagues have said such nice things. He was very good with computers and would always fix people’s computers for free.”

The crash, leading to the 11th road death in Northamptonshire this year, happened on the A6 bypass between Rothwell and Desborough at 10.15pm on Thursday.

Traffic officers have appealed for witnesses to come forward, particularly the person driving the white car that police believe could have been a Japanese make.

Mr Hassan’s Ford Focus is believed to have crossed the carriageway into the path of a Volkswagen Bora.

The 45-year-old female driver of that car was airlifted to Walsgrave Hospital in Coventry with serious injuries.

Witnesses, or anyone who knows the identity of the white car driver, should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
