Escape to day full of music and more

A youth club is preparing for its annual fundraising music and skateboarding festival.

The event at Keystone Escape in Rockingham Road, Kettering, takes place tomorrow and will feature a host of bands, workshops and entertainment.

The youth club holds the event to raise money to help keep its doors open during the summer holidays and to introduce new people to the club.

Music co-ordinator Kerry Ambler said: "It's such a great day and a wonderful opportunity to give local musical talent a platform to do their thing in front of a large, lively audience.

"It's also all about welcoming new people to Keystone, people who might not know we're here or who might have never come along before.

"We open our doors to so many varieties of people and ages."

There will be 15 bands playing on two outdoor stages with acoustic sets in the cafe, and skateboard and BMX displays in the garden.

The day will be headlined by Dissolved In, from London, and feature performances from bands including Yeltsin, Felt Tip Thieves, Muscle Mobile, Karl Phillips & The Ramblers, You And What Army, We Are The Audience and Sleepyhead.

Triof Music Group will also be holding production workshops, giving people the chance to record vocals on to music and other activities.

Mrs Ambler said: "It's the eighth year we've held this all-day live event. We're a registered charity totally run by volunteers who do a great job."

The day will also include dream reading, bongo drum sessions, belly dancers, a bouncy castle, barbecue and other refreshments, non-alcoholic cocktails, and different stalls and art opportunities.

The day runs from 11.30am until 10.30pm.

Entrance is 7.50 or 25 for a family ticket.
