Dancing sisters chase stardom

TWO young Highland dancers are hoping to have won a place in a national talent competition.

The first series of Britain's Got Talent ended in June. But yesterday, Kettering teenagers Emily and Rebekah Radomski travelled to the Hippodrome Theatre, Birmingham, for auditions for the show's second series.

The sisters, from Merrivale Close, Kettering, are members of a dance school in Corby and have been rehearsing a two-and-a-half minute Highland dance with a modern makeover at Kettering Conference Centre.

Rebekah, 16, said "It's all been very exciting, we just entered the competition and then got a letter asking us to the audition."

Emily, 13, said: "We've been putting a lot of practice in and like the music we're dancing to."

The first series of the ITV show was presented by Ant and Dec. It featured a search for Britain's best amateur talent and featured singers, dancers, comedians and variety acts.

The winner of the first series was opera singer Paul Potts. He has gone on to sign a major recording deal and perform at top venues across the world.

The girls' mother Fiona said: "The girls have been dancing for about 12 years and have competed up and down the country.

"The girls have tried to bring Highland dancing into the 21st century – the same way Michael Flatley did with River Dance."

Rebekah is a former All England Champion and Emily is a runner-up.

The girls travelled to Birmingham with their mother and her partner Keith Kelly.
