A romantic dance helped to raise much-needed funds for a little girl who has cancer.

The Valentine’s tea dance was organised by staff and students at Rushden Community College in Hayway for members of the public and was held last week.

The fun event also raised money for five-year-old Niamh Curry, of Wellingborough, who has acute neuroblastoma.

A spokesman for the college said: “Members of the community danced the afternoon away to the music of Dave Hawke with refreshments provided by the school council. The students had prepared Valentine’s cakes and decorations to celebrate the event and a raffle was held to raise proceeds for Niamh Curry.”

The college’s next tea dance will be held from 2pm on Wednesday, May 8, and all are welcome.

The Niamh’s Next Step appeal has been launched to raise £450,000 to pay for advanced treatment for Niamh in America.
