Curtain up on cinema revamp
IMPRESSIVE new facilities have been unveiled at Kettering's cinema ahead of its 10th anniversary next month.
The refurbishment is the first major change to the cinema since it opened 1997.
Kenny Simmons, general manager of the cinema, said: “All the team are very excited about this great investment into our cinema.
“The team have coped well with a difficult time as the building took place during half-term, which did get a little noisy at times, but the improvements are clear to the guests, and we look forward to serving them for another decade.”
Kettering Mayor Christopher Lamb officially opened the cinema’s newlook foyer yesterday.
The refurbishment, which took three weeks to complete, has seen the entire foyer space restructured to give cinema-goers more space, as well as new flooring and a revamped refreshment area.
The usual array of sweet treats on offer now includes a Ben & Jerry’s ice cream concession.
The cinema’s marketing manager Simon Hopkins said the revamp was nicely timed.
He said: “It’s great to have it done in time for our 10th anniversary.
“We’ve already noticed visitors taking advantage of the new things on offer, and we want to thank them for being so patient while the work was carried out.”
Cinema-goer Sarah Beeby, 15, of Buttermere Close, Kettering, said she was looking forward to seeing the new facilities.
She said: “I enjoy going to the cinema, and I’m glad there is more space because before there wasn’t a lot of space to sit down while you are waiting for your film to start.”
Kettering’s Odeon will celebrate its 10th anniversary on Sunday December 9 with a NSPCC charity premiere of Disney’s smash Christmas film Enchanted.
