Corby man jailed for attack on wife

A man who punched his wife in the face and tried to strangled her in front of her two-year-old daughter has been jailed for the attack.

Mindijs Tedoradze appeared at Northampton Crown Court yesterday where he was jailed for 32 weeks.

Tedoradze, 31, of Witworth Avenue, Corby, had previously pleaded guilty to one charge of actual bodily harm.

The attack happened on November 7 last year, when Tedoradze and his wife had been drinking with friends before the attack.

Prosecuting Elizabeth Gooderham said: "He asked her for another cigarette and she refused.

"This angered him and he stood over her on the bed with his hands around her neck.

"He punched her in her face, nose and right eye area."

She ran out of the house and a neighbour called the police. In mitigation, the court heard Tedoradze started drinking heavily after losing his job.

Recorder Nigel Daly said: "I have seen photos of the injuries you caused your wife."

"This offence is so serious that only a sentence of imprisonment is justified."
