Police unearth another cannabis factory in Corby
POLICE officers have uncovered another cannabis factory in Corby.
Officers executed a warrant at a further address in Lyveden Way on the Oakley Vale estate in the town at about 8.30am on Friday, December 28.
Northamptonshire officers discovered three cannabis factories in Lyveden Way in November.
Most of the hydroponics equipment had already been removed from the now empty property by the offenders and only a small number of cannabis plants were found at the location.
The house has been forensically examined and police are urging the community to report any suspicious behaviour they think may be related to cannabis cultivation.
Det Insp Neil McMahon said: "If residents suspect that cannabis is being grown in properties they should contact us immediately so that we can take action.
"Because of people's awareness and police activity we think we have brought the activity of this cluster of factories in Lyveden Way to an abrupt halt.
"In order for us to continue to clamp down on illegal drugs operations we need the community to be our eyes and ears."
Many of the properties being used as cannabis factories are detached houses with plenty of room for plants.
The curtains of these properties may often be drawn and there may be long periods of time when the home appears to be unused with little movement in and out.
Witnesses to this incident, or anyone with information, should call Northamptonshire police on 08453 700700 - alternatively, information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
