One hundred dogs abandoned - video report
Two dogs have died after nearly 100 St Bernard dogs have been found abandoned at a kennels near Corby.
RSPCA officers found 98 St Bernards in poor conditions at Wardana Kennels and Cattery in Brigstock on Saturday.
The animals were covered in faeces and in a poor state when they were found.
Two of the dogs were taken to vets but died last night.
A further four privately owned dogs we also found. Two have gone back to their owners and the RSPCA is trying to get in touch with the other two owners.
RSPCA officers have been at the scene since Saturday are now looking for kennels in Northamptonshire to rehouse the dogs.
Speaking outside the kennels on Monday morning, RSPCA inspector Justin Stubbs described the terrible conditions. He said: "There was faeces everywhere and upturned bowls. Something has gone wrong.
"Because they are such big dogs you wouldn't expect to see so many dogs in such conditions.
"I'll be going home and having a stiff drink tonight. But it looks like we can do something with them."
An RSPCA spokesman said: "We are in the process of removing 98 dogs from the premises in the area and an investigation is ongoing."
The RSPCA are still trying to trace the owner of the kennels, but have so far been unable to find her.
