Gatecrasher death: Family upset by drugs rumours

The family of clubber Bryn Llewelyn, who died of heart-related natural causes at the Gatecrasher music festival, have spoken of the shock caused by his death.

Mr Llewelyn, aged 41, died in the early hours of Sunday, May 25 at the Gatecrasher Summer Sound System at Turweston Aerodrome, near Brackley.

On Friday, the results of the father-of-two's post mortem revealed there were no suspicious findings from the examination and that there would not be a subsequent inquest into his death.

Mr Llewelyn's sister, Zena York, said the results proved the family right in their assertion he had not been taking drugs.

She said: "We knew he had high blood pressure but it was unfortunately nobody knew quite how high it actually was.

"This is just what we knew all along that it had got to be something to do with his blood pressure condition."

She said speculation about drug use had made Mr Llewelyn's death even more difficult for his family.

Mrs York said: "It wasn't nice because we knew in our own minds that what was being said wasn't true. It had got to be something medical.

"To see him, he was fit and healthy, nobody realised his condition was so bad.

"There was some speculation going round because of where it happened and that did upset the family.

"This just goes to show we knew all along it had to be to do with his blood pressure, and we have been proved right."

Mr Llewelyn's funeral will take place on Friday, June 6 at Milton Malsor Crematorium, at 12.30pm.
