Faryl gets back to her grassroots

FARYL Smith has been rubbing shoulders with the stars this week, but still found time to cheer on her friends at a football match in her home town.

The 13-year-old kicked off her busy week by performing in front of 90,000 football fans, including the former Secretary General of the UN Kofi Annan, at the FA Cup final at Wembley.

But once the Southfield School for Girls pupil had finished performing the national anthem, she was whisked back to Kettering to prepare for her performance with classical singer Jose Carreras at Hampton Court Festival in London on Tuesday.

Rubbing shoulders with the stars has not changed the young singer, who has a 2.3m record contract.

She was seen at a football tournament at Rushden & Diamonds the day after walking on to the pitch at Wembley, cheering on her friends who were playing for Kettering Generals under-14s team against Cambridge City.

She was even happy to sign autographs for players taking part in the tournament.
