Album plan for Faryl

FARYL Smith is to record and release her own album in the autumn.

The 12-year-old singer from Kettering, who beat thousands of hopefuls to reach the final of Britain's Got Talent in May, will launch her dream of working in the music industry when she goes into the studio in September.

In an exclusive interview with the Evening Telegraph, Faryl has revealed that, although she has not signed a recording deal yet, she has made plans with Simon Cowell to start recording her first CD in September.

There are also plans for her to appear on next year's series of the talent show which made her a household name to launch her album.

Earlier this week Faryl went into the studio to record a cover of Walking In the Air with fellow Britain's Got Talent finalist Andrew Johnston.

The song will either be released as a single or will feature on Andrew's album.

Faryl said: "I'm doing an album but it's not going to be released until next year.

"I have got a big break now – I am coming back home for a few months and I will be recording in September.

"They were talking about me going on next year's Britain's Got Talent as a guest and releasing my album then, so it's going to be quite a long time, but I think that's ok because I get a break."

Faryl said she was happy to wait until 2009 for her first release.

"I want it to be a long-term career, not just a quick fix then back to normal," she said.

"I want to have a career in singing."

She also revealed she has been invited to have tea with her opera-singing idol Katherine Jenkins, who sent her a good-luck message when she was competing in Britain's Got Talent.

No discussions have taken place yet on the songs which will feature on the album, but Faryl is adamant she will continue to perform classical music.

She said: "I entered this competition as a classical singer so I want to have classical songs on my album."
