Cannabis factory found in Corby following tip off
Police officers in Corby have uncovered a cannabis factory.
Officers were alerted to the factory in Woodfield Grove on the Lloyds estate at about 1.20pm on Sunday 14 June.
About 155 plants were found at the semi-detached house along with hydroponic lights, compost and plant pots.
The community tipped off police about the factory and officers estimate the plants were worth around 48,000.
Sergeant Julie Mead said: "Cannabis cultivation is something that we will take every opportunity to clamp down on in Corby.
"A lot of enforcement work took place at locations around the north of the county during National Tackling Drugs Week but we will not be complacent – we aim to keep up the pressure on people who run these factories in the town.
"I would urge anyone with any information about cannabis factories to get in touch with us as soon as possible."
The pots and compost seized – 20 bags of compost and 40 pots – will be put to good use in the local community.
They will be used to encourage children to grow plants during a 'Plant A Plant' session, which will be held during the forthcoming Rural Week of Action in Gretton on August 4.
Sergeant Mead continued: "We will use the pots and plants at the forthcoming Rural Week of Action in Gretton so that the community can get some further benefit from the discovery of this cannabis factory."
