Attempted murder charge
Police investigating a serious stabbing have charged a Corby man with attempted murder.
Paul Longdin, 26, is accused of stabbing holidaymaker Carol Couch seven times at a caravan site in Lincolnshire a week ago.
The 59-year-old woman was found lying in a pool of blood outside her caravan at Brandy Wharf Leisure Park, near Waddingham, last Monday. The victim's car, a red Skoda Octavia saloon, was stolen and later found abandoned near Corby police station in Elizabeth Street.
Officers from the Corby Criminal Investigation Unit launched a manhunt for the attacker, revealing they believed he was hiding out in Corby and asking for help from members of the public.
Longdin was arrested in connection with the incident on Thursday, following an appeal in the Evening Telegraph.
He was taken to Corby Police Station and later moved to Lincoln Police Station for further questioning.
On Saturday he was formally charged with attempted murder, robbery and theft of a car.
A spokesman for Lincolnshire Police said: "He remains in police custody and will appear before Lincoln Magistrates today.
"We can confirm police are not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident."
Mrs Couch, from Keadby, Scunthorpe, is recovering in hospital from her injuries, which included several stab wounds and a punctured lung.
Her son Dale Couch, 34, said earlier this week that his mum was a regular at the site.
He said: "Dad passed away last year and this has been a really difficult time for us. Mum and dad used to go and stay in the caravan together and so this was a sentimental place for her."
Longdin will appear at Lincoln Magistrates Court this morning
