Attempted armed robbery in Rushden
A man with what is believed to have have been a firearm attempted to rob a 56-year-old woman in a house in Newton Road, Rushden this morning.
The house is at the top end of Newton Road, near to the junction with Avenue Road and the incident happened at around 9.50am.
The man did not take anything from the woman or the house and made off in a black hatchback car towards Newton Bromswold with another man driving.
The woman was not injured in the incident but was left shaken by it.
Police are appealing for witnesses to this incident and are keen to speak to two men of large build who were wearing high visibility jackets who have been seen in this car in the Newton Road area some time before this incident.
Detective Sergeant Alison Farr from Wellingborough CID, said: "This was a particularly frightening, although rare incident and we would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who may have seen these two men in the Newton Road area of Rushden recently."
