Ashley saddles up to aid Alley
Urban sports fan Ashley Pover is cycling 101 miles to raise thousands of pounds for a skateboarding venue.
Mr Pover helped to set up Adrenaline Alley in Corby. Now he is now taking part in a charity cycle ride from Leicestershire to Norfolk on Saturday.
The Century Cycle Challenge is a physically demanding ride from Nevill Holt to Burnham Deepdale in a day.
So far he has raised 11,600 – more than the other 119 bike riders have for their charities put together.
Mr Pover wants to create a foundation to run alongside the Arnsley Road venue that will fund massive discounts for children wanting to use the facility.
He also plans to develop another centre at the site, giving youngsters the opportunity to work with art, music and photographs.
Mr Pover, from Leicestershire, said Adrenaline Alley attracts youngsters from across the country, adding: "I've watched this charity develop from its grassroots to one of the most inspirational projects I have worked with.
"Helping to raise money for a charity that keeps kids off the streets and provides a safe, secure environment makes such a difference. Embarking on a cycle ride for charity is not only exciting, but tremendously fulfilling.
"The cycle ride is going to be tough but people need to get behind a project like this."
Adrenaline Alley co-founder Mandy Young said: "Ashley has been a staunch supporter of the charity from the first. Without him we would undoubtedly have struggled to get the Alley off the ground.
"It's amazing the value Adrenaline Alley has and how much it means to so many people."
Adrenaline Alley is situated in a 51,000 sq ft former factory off Priors Haw Road. For the second year running it will be hosting the UK Skateboarding Association's skateboarding and Vert championships in September and is organising its first amateur BMX competition.
