Another cannabis farm uncovered
POLICE have said more drugs raids are to come after uncovering a fourth cannabis factory in the county in six days.
Sgt Alasdair Fraser, the head of the team that found about 500 cannabis plants with a street value of at least 150,000 in the latest factory, in the village of Byfield, said: “Producers are moving out of the cities and towns to more rural areas now, because the rent is so much cheaper and they are less likely to be overlooked.
“Because of the coverage of raids since the start of the new year, it seems interest among the public is being generated and hopefully that will continue.”
A criminal investigation has been launched and police have confirmed they are investigating links between the Byfield outlet and other cannabis farms in Charwelton and Daventry discovered this week.
During 2007, Northamptonshire Police found 29 cannabis factories.
Two arrests have been made, following the Charwelton and Byfield raids, and both men are believed to be of Vietnamese origin.
