It is the pinnacle of the school year and the coming of age for pupils leaving behind the classroom.

So it was no surprise hundreds of pupils approaching the end of their last school year attended a special prom night event for ideas on what to wear.

Dozens of tuxedos and dresses were on display at the free Northamptonshire Newspapers 2012 Prom Show at the Holiday Inn in Corby, staged by the Evening Telegraph.

There were also a variety of hair designs by stylists at Askews Hairdressing, which has salons in Corby, Kettering and Geddington.

Many other local designers and hairdressers were at the show, which was sponsored by Bonnie Brides & Grooms.

The Evening Telegraph’s acting editor Neil Pickford said: “It’s always exciting for the teenagers to pick what they will wear for one of the special nights of their life.”
