Pupils team up to impress 'Sir Alan'
Schoolchildren became apprentices for the day in a mock-up of the popular BBC series.
Year 6 children from Old Primary School formed four groups and came up with original business ideas.
Team Victorious lived up to their name and won. They will now organise the end-of-year party.
Headteacher Helen Williams said: "The Year 6 pupils have just finished their SATs tests so we thought we would give them something a bit different.
"It was hard work but they did well working as a team."
Some teams held tombolas and baked cakes while Victorious washed the staff's cars and were hired.
Each team was given a 10 budget to spend on whatever they wanted. The groups appointed their own project managers to direct their business plans.
Money Makers, Jackpot and Unite were the other teams.
Sir Alan Sugar was played by the school's chairman of governors and teachers from nearby schools also joined the panel.
A total of 400 was raised, with half going to charity and the other 200 towards the cost of the party.
Mrs Williams said: "There were a lot of clean cars in the car park. We're definitely thinking of doing it again.
"The Year 5 pupils came in to watch at the end so they have been set the challenge of coming up with something next year."
Old Primary School, in Meeting Lane, is just one of many schools which have done projects based on the Bafta award-winning reality television series to give children a taste of competitive markets.
On the programme, aspiring young businessmen and women compete for the chance to win a 100,000-a-year job as "apprentice" to business tycoon Sir Alan Sugar.
In the most recent series, Yasmina Siadatan, 27, was hired by Sir Alan after 12 weeks of challenges.
