Hapless Kettering burglar stole days after being given last chance

A Kettering man has been jailed after he burgled a town centre shop just days after being given a suspended sentence.
Hapless burglar Thomas Gaffney, who also uses the name Dean Gaffney, was given a last chance at Northampton Magistrates' Court last month after admitting two burglaries.

Hide AdGaffney, 45 and of Highfield Crescent, burgled the town's Manor House Museum on September 13 last year and stole 34 rings worth £51.
Despite being subject to a community order after he was convicted of criminal damage he then committed another offence at Kettering Park Hotel on January 11.
After entering a restricted staff area he helped himself to a handbag and its contents.
He was arrested and sentenced to six weeks in prison, suspended for a year, on January 13.

Hide AdBut four days after being given a last chance he was caught again.
He burgled discount store Savers in High Street on January 17, stealing perfume worth about £210.
Magistrates jailed him for four weeks and activated his previous six-week sentence, making a total spell behind bars of 10 weeks.
He must also pay compensation totalling £165 and a victim surcharge of £122.
