Christmas has gone, as has Valentine’s Day, and now the shops are full of Easter merchandise and cards for Mothering Sunday, or Mothers’ Day as some might prefer to call it; the latter being so special for us all as we all have, or have had, a mum who means so much for so many reasons.

Back in September 1976, aged twenty one, I started my teaching career in full-time employment at Whitefriars Junior School in Rushden and spent 18 very happy years there before moving on to other posts and other schools in the county.
