The loos in Corby's Willow Place are among the best.
The facilities have been awarded an impressive four- star rating in the prestigious Loo of the Year awards.

It seems customers do not mind spending a penny – or 20p in this case – to use the facility.

Dan Pickard, town centre director at Land Securities, which owns Willow Place, said: "We are very proud of the public toilets in Willow Place.

"We didn't want the toilets to be vandalised when they were opened so we decided to make a charge so we could have an attendant full-time.

"This means they are checked regularly, are very clean and immaculate and are stocked up with soap and hand creams at all times.

"The staff there work really hard.

"We were hoping to get a five-star rating but are pleased to have been given this award."

He said the toilet attendants, who also scooped a prestigious Loo Attendant of the Year award in the contest, had fared excellently when shoppers were sent to use the facilities.

Inspectors from the Loo of the Year awards used strict criteria when judging and looked at areas such as cleanliness, security and the amount of services available.

Tresham Institute student Aimee Smith, 17, from the Exeter Estate in Corby, said: "I like using these toilets. They are clean and spacious."

Full-time mum Dee Kenna, 40, of Kingswood, Corby, said: "I like these toilets because they feel safe.

"I am not surprised they have won this award."

Tresham student Samantha Burnett, 16, of Gainsborough Road, Corby, said: "The toilets are very modern and they seem clean."

Flushed with success, attendant Maurice Quinlan said: "We felt very good when we won these awards."

The toilets have modern granite surfaces next to the sinks, a spacious baby-changing facility which offers emergency nappies and a well-equipped toilet for the disabled.

People are admitted via turn-stile access.

The certificates from the Loo of the Year awards are now on display in the facility's foyer area.

More good news for Corby,

How about another set of 'superloos' at the cther side of the town centre, next to the Oasis car park.

Know of elderly people needing the loo who would much appreciate it.
