Setback for Rushden affordable homes plan

Plans to provide affordable housing on a plot of land in a town centre look set to put on hold.
East Northamptonshire Council was initially prepared to allow the land it owns in North Street, Rushden, to be used by a social housing provider for new affordable properties.

But the council has received only one expression of interest, which council officers say does not represent value for money.

The tender which was received proposed to create seven houses and two flats.
