Investigation to be launched into water crisis
AN official investigation will be carried out by the Drinking Water Inspectorate into the cryptosporidium outbreak in Northamptonshire.
The unit confirmed it will be holding the probe during a public meeting held at the Guildhall in Northampton yesterday.
The meeting saw representatives of the Drinking Water Inspectorate, Consumer Council for Water, Anglian Water, Northamptonshire County Council and Northampton Borough Council meet members of the public to learn how they had responded when traces of cryptosporidium were discovered in tap water, and to see if there were any lessons which could be learned from the incident.
Issues flagged up by the public included confusion over the boil notice in villages and difficulties with getting on the WaterCare Register, which gives the company a list of vulnerable people.
The list grew during the lifetime of the boil notice, with those on it receiving bottled water.
