A scout group is appealing for help to make its centenary reunion extra special.
The 1st Irthlingborough Scouts will be holding a reunion and exhibition weekend to celebrate 100 years since it was formed.

To help with the exhibition, leaders are appealing for photos or memorabilia from the last 100 years of the group.

Group Scout leader Nick Powell said: "We are celebrating the last 100 years of our existence. It is our heritage. We have had thousands of people go through the group, all of whom have benefited and are now coming from all over the world for the reunion."

The reunion and exhibition weekend will take place from Friday, October 3, to Sunday, October 5.

The celebrations will begin at 7.30pm on the Friday, when the recently refurbished headquarters in Irthlingborough High Street will be officially re-opened.

MP for East Northamptonshire Phil Hope will be officially opening the event, along with current and former members and friends of the group who will have the chance to share their memories.

Former members and supporters of the group are asked to get in contact if they would like to attend.

If you have any photos, articles or memorabilia, such as old flags, uniforms and log books, the Scouts would also like to hear from you.

Former group Scout leader Lyle Abbott said: "We have a large amount of photos but there are some gaps, the 1930s for example.

"We really want to put on a good show. So many organisations have never recorded their history but the Scouts have.

"It is important for us to preserve memories of the past 100 years for future generations."

If you can help email Group Scout Leader Nick Powell on gsl@irthlingboroughscouts.co.uk.
