Olympic swimmer Mark Foster officially opened Corby International Swimming Pool today.
He was the first person to take to the water and he swam the 50m length in 22.92 seconds.

He said: "I love seeing new swimming pools, I have spent my life in them and this is a fantastic facility.

"What makes a fantastic pool for me is the light that comes in here and you have built a great facility here."

The official opening ceremony took place this morning and the pool will be open to the public from 2.30pm this afternoon.

I would like to take this opportunity to say a big well done to ALL CBC who worked so hard to give the people of Corby a fantastic Swimming facility. I was there today for the opening ceremony which was absolutely brilliant. Mark Foster opened the pool and gave inspiring words, alongside demonstrations from cheerleading, diving, snorkelling and swimming. It is about time Corby had something to proud of as well as the town centre developments and the cube, but really the pool is definately world class.

Whoever, the above person is you really need to take a long hard think to what you have written. The pool has been open to the public for viewing and finding out information about opening times for a number of weeks. Why on earth would you spend your time and money calling to find out pool opening times on the first day it is open to the public? There were over 300 people at the opening ceremony and 100's of children / parents waiting outside to get in to use the pool in the afternoon so you can imagine how busy it was. If you were that bothered about opening times then you would have taken a visit to the pool, like everyone else before the official opening that happened today. As for the website you clearly need to spend more time on your internet skills as all information is on the Corby Borough Council website. I wanted to find information on swimming timetable and the website covered it all!!! So put your stupid comments on you tube, because they aint worth anything. The pool is far from what you describe as the Brittas empire. If you previously used the pool 4/5 times a week then you should be proud to have this facility instead of moaning on here and writing such rubbish when you clearly do not have a clue! Who cares where the pool was planned to be to where it is now? You need to stop dwelling in the past and find a hobby which does not include writing such comments on here.

SWIM AGAINST THE FLOW,

Corby 25/07/2009 22:24:37
hello again
to clrify i rang corby council who own/ run the pool for times do you realy think i rang the pool.
My internet surfing skill are not relevant
Corby council should have the relevant imformation no matter what.
I presume you seldom use the pool or you would no what went on there.
For you also to say that the people of corby should be proud of a swimming pool is a joke and only casts a shadow onto the social standing of corby people.
You also assume correctly that the the staff would be very busy.
they were.
But as i deal in FACTS let me tell you and others
that i rang the pool for over twenty minutes when they were not busy and the picked up the phone and put it down so they would not have to deal with it.
This is fact as i rang outside with my mobile.
WHAT DO PEOPLE THINK OF THAT
MY COMMENTS ARE NOT STUPID THEY ARE FACTS AS I HAVE HAD THEM DELT TO ME.

THE PERSON WHO SAID THEY WERE STUPID CLEARLY IS IN THE ELK WHO ARE PROUD OF HAVING A SWIMMING POOL.....
i would never call someone thoughts stupid but im not proud of a swimming pool
pride kills
DID I GO FOR A SWIM NO JUST GATHERING IMFORMATION
FOR UTUBE.
THANKS

When ever Corby has positive, good news there are always those try their best to drag the town down. Corby is at last getting the facilities a town of this size should have. Corby in the past few years despite the economic down turn has become the success story of the region so stop knocking it.
