Police are reminding young people of the dangers of throwing items from bridges after a car had its windscreen smashed on Sunday night.
The car was travelling on the A45 eastbound when a brick was thrown from a footbridge near the Earls Barton turning.
The woman driver of the car was not injured in the incident that happened at 9pm on Sunday 17 August, but the consequences of the incident could have been a lot more serious.
A police spokesperson said: "We take all incidents of this nature extremely seriously.
"The people who threw this brick almost certainly have no idea as to how irresponsible or potentially dangerous this sort of activity is.
"They are doing this for a dare or for a bit of excitement with friends but the message needs to made clear to children, but also to responsible parents, guardians and teachers, that this is not acceptable.
"These actions are extremely dangerous and objects that are thrown at moving vehicles could result in accidents that cause serious injury or even death."
Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident on the A45 or who may have any information regarding it.
Witnesses can contact police on 08453 700 700 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
