Boy killed in A6 accident is named

A 12-year-old boy who died following a road traffic collision in Irthlingborough has been named as Connor Roche of Eastfield Crescent, Finedon.
The boy was one of a small group of boys cycling along the A6 just before the Finedon Road junction in Irthlingborough when the boy was struck by a passing Landrover. The incident happened at about 8pm yesterday (Wednesday).

As a result of the collision the boy sustained serious head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police from the operations tactical unit are appealing for witnesses who saw the collision, or the cyclist or the Landrover immediately before it, to contact police on 03000 111 222.

This is so terribly sad. My thoughts go out to the little boys family and the driver of the vehicle involved who I am sure is in pieces.
