IT was no fishy tale when angler Bev Street broke a fishing record in Oundle.
Mrs Street cught a 66lb catfish while fishing in Bluebell Lakes, at Tansor, Oundle.
The 45-year-old, who lives in Skegness, broke the record for the biggest freshwater fish caught by a female angler in the UK with her mammoth haul.
Mrs Street caught the fish while on holiday with her husband Chris, also a keen fisherman.
She said: "It was the first time I had been there because we usually fish at Water Meadows in Chapel St Leonards.
"Bluebell Lakes has some really big fish. We were told if we caught anything above 30lbs we should contact the staff, anytime, day or night.
"We didn't realise it was a record at first but the bailiff said it was a record for a female angler."
It took almost half an hour to land the fish.
Until this impressive catch, the biggest fish Mrs Street has had on her line were a 29lb carp and a 21lb catfish.
Mrs Street said there are only believed to be about eight of these large catfish in the country and she is the only woman to have caught one.
This was the ultimate haul for Mrs Street who has only been fishing for just three years.
She and her husband spend as much time as possible enjoying their sport and often go on angling holidays.
Mrs Street said: "It's true what they say that once you have caught your first fish you want to catch another and a bigger one.
"I'm just hooked and really love it."
