So, where was my paradise? My paradise was Cadbury World. Hmmm! If, like me, you are a chocolate lover, and you've not been, do go, just for the smell of chocolate alone.
I had been many times in the past, as it was a popular place to take groups
of schoolchildren (and teachers!).
The last time I went was seven years ago, the day before I had my first dose of chemotherapy. Thinking I may be stuck at home for some time I decided to treat myself and subsequently spent too much money on unusual, yummy bars of chocolate that would keep me happy and content.
The first dose was administered with no problems, but sadly my tastebuds had dramatically changed and I was not able to eat any of the delicious bars for over eight long months.
This time round I had no excuse for buying any additional chocolate, except that it is just 'nice' to do so and very tempting. I went as part of my great-nephew's birthday treat and simply could not go into the shop and come out empty-handed and, a day later, my tastebuds are very healthy!
It is a busy time all round for us at Crazy Hats, with many varied projects on the go and events to attend. Let me tell you of one that we went to, courtesy of the Park Hotel in Kettering which has nominated us as its charity of the year.
We went to a salsa dancing lesson where I was told all you had to do was wiggle your hips, swing your arms, kick your legs and have fun. Well, this should prove interesting. As much as I would like it to be, dancing is not my forté and having eaten perhaps too much chocolate I am not of the build to do all that was asked of me. I tried hard and found my legs could cope with some of the movements but my arms simply did their own thing. The poor instructor stood no chance with us Crazy Ladies, especially when we had to perform pirouettes, stamp our feet and shout 'olé' as loud as we could – we were in hysterics. Like visiting the chocolate factory, it was great, just for a while, to live life as a child again.
With such hilarity I must not forget to thank all sponsors from our walk who have helped to raise more than £60,000 – thank you so much.
