Weekend of music in town
The Raunds Music Festival got under way yesterday and continues all weekend.
The festival's eclectic fusion of music is back for its seventh year, combining folk, rock and jazz with local, national and international talent.
Tonight the festival favourites Ock'n'Dough will be on hand to help celebrate the town mayor's charity barn dance. Tickets cost 6 for adults and doors open at 8pm.
Tomorrow there will be dancing on the town's square from 10am until midday and a host of community stalls.
The boom workshop, from 10am until 4pm, will give people between 16 and 25 years old the chance to learn about making short films, video diaries and mini-documentaries.
Saturday will also see an afternoon concert with legendary folk singer-songwriter and guitarist Steve Tilston from 3pm to 5pm and the Baghdaddies will headline the night concert from 8pm. Tickets are 12.
A free unplugged folk, blues and roots song and tune sessions take place at the World Upside Down from midday on Sunday and the Saxon Jazz Caf will also be hosting music from 2.30pm. Admission is 6.
The Sunday night concert sees Mawkin:Causley kick off the night and headlining is folk band Uiscedwr.
Most of the festival events take place at the Saxon Hall, Thorpe Street, Raunds.
