Five top female comedians will be performing in June to raise awareness of breast cancer in young women.

The Lighthouse Theatre in Kettering is teaming up with the Crazy Hats Breast Cancer Appeal to mark its 10th year by staging Live @ The Lighthouse – Ladies Night! on June 27.

Isy Suttie, Carly Smallman, Frisky and Mannish, Mary Bourke and Meryl O’Rourke will perform stand-up for the one-off night.

Glennis Hooper set up Crazy Hats while at home during treatment for breast cancer.

Ten years on she has helped raise £1.25m for much-needed equipment and for breast care units in Northamptonshire and Leicester.

She said “Unfortunately breast cancer in young women is becoming more and more prevalent. This night will not only raise awareness about the disease in young women but also remind us all to live life and to let your hair down once in a while with a good laugh.”

Theatre manager Lucy Hatfield said: “Great live comedy is in such demand at present that this is the perfect opportunity for some much-needed fun and funds. However, the ladies night theme isn’t just for the girls, anyone is welcome as long as they are in the mood for a good time.”

The audience will be treated to a pink theme with pink bubbly and pink themed raffle.

They will also be encouraged to come along dressed in the colour.
