Rory's stories of Aussie roots
Australian singer-songwriter Rory Ellis headlines The Finedon Sessions tonight.
Ellis plays a fusion of blues, folk and country combined with his own moving, deep gravelled voice. The singer is in the UK for his sixth UK tour since 2004.
The shows are based around the colourful stories of Australian culture, humour and characters which inspired the songs on his solo albums.
His fourth album, Two Feathers, is a contemporary roots record fused with country and blues music.
It includes songs about childhood hideaways on the tin roof of an old asbestos shed, dreams of finding home in strange lands, through to poignant songs about regret, separation and the passing of his long-time stage cohort. It also touches on the involvement of Australians in the Iraq conflict.
Support comes from Andy Whittle, a charismatic young singer songwriter, and veteran singer-songwriter Steve Stapley.
The Finedon Sessions are at Finedon Community Centre in Wellingborough Road, Finedon.
Doors open at 7.30pm and tickets cost 5.
