KETTERING Waterstone's, High St. Corby author Paul Balmer signing copies of his new book, The Haynes Drumkit Manual
An author and musician drummed up support for his new book at a signing session.
Paul Balmer was signing copies of the Haynes Drum-Kit Manual at Waterstone’s in Kettering on Saturday, the seventh in his series in the style of the car manuals.
The book is a step-by-step guide to assembling a drum kit and getting the best possible sound from it.
Mr Balmer, 60, of Osbourne Close, Corby, said: “It was interesting – I used to teach in Kettering and a lot of my old pupils showed up.
“The signs are good. We have had two really nice reviews and a mention in Rhythm magazine, which is the drummer’s bible.
“The best thing about writing a book is how much you learn. I have had my drum kit since 1964 and it is working the best it ever has.”
The book is the first Mr Balmer has written which is not about guitars, and has been given the seal of approval by Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith.
Mr Balmer also interviewed one of his heroes for the book, Eric Clapton’s drummer Steve Gadd.
