Athlete heading to Northampton

Indie four-piece Athlete will play a sellout gig at The Picturedrome, Northampton, on Tuesday.

The band, which played at The Last Days Of Summer festival last year,

are mixing their new album.

Athlete rose to fame in 2003 with their debut album Vehicles and Animals, which included singles You Got the Style and El Salvador.

The record earned a Mercury Music Prize nomination and sold more

than 250,000 copies.

Their second album, Tourist, reached the top of the album charts following the success of single Wires and their third album, Beyond the Neighbourhood, was released in 2007.

Northampton's Town Centre Music Festival takes place this month.

Organised by the Richardson group, the three-day festival will showcase

music from across the county, with performances at the Charles Bradlaugh, Picturedrome and in the Market Square.

For a full preview of events and the line-up of performers see this week's Guide.
