George Berridge, Georgia Frew, Phoebe Fitzgerald, Maddie Sturnam-Coombes and Connor Porter celebrate completing their first term of forest school at Touch of Eden Nursery in Stanwick.

A group of children have completed their first term of Forest School.

Youngsters at Touch of Eden nursery in Stanwick have been exploring nature up close after the nursery bought a field nearby so it could set up Forest School.

During the school’s first eight weeks the children took part in activities such as bug hunting and learned how to be safe outdoors.

Nursery founder Tanya Richardson said: “We’ve found the school has benefited the children in a number of ways. We monitor their speech and language development and self-esteem levels and have found since we started the programme the children who were at risk in those areas have been doing a lot better. We think this is because the school helps to build their confidence.”
