Wellingborough Crown pub Senwick Road: 25/01/12

For a fantastic deal on quality pub food, head down to The Crown pub in Wellingborough.

The pub, in Senwick Road, is offering two main meals for one from its varied menu which features pastas, burgers, grills, curries and more.

The Crown also offers a range of starters and desserts, as well as a lunch menu featuring baguettes and jacket potatoes.

From February 5 it will be introducing a Sunday carvery where customers can choose from a number of meats plus all the trimmings for just £8.95.

Dan Turner took over as manager of The Crown in October and has overseen a major refurbishment.

The Crown has a traditional pub feel with old pub memorabilia throughout including Northamptonshire Brewery bottles and Northampton Saints rugby paraphernalia on the walls.

There is a separate bar and restaurant, one with hardwood floors and the other carpeted throughout.

Outside there is a beer garden, a smoking area and a large car park.

Many of its customers come to The Crown for its sports coverage. The pub has Sky TV and shows all the big football and rugby matches.

It also attracts drinkers due to its selection of real ales. There are usually eight different ales on offer and new ales are introduced each week.

Dan has been in the pub trade for 12 years and has previously been at The Golden Lion in Wellingborough and The George in Wilby.

He said: “Because I’ve had a couple of pubs in the area before a lot of customers have followed me here but we also get a lot of regulars including businessmen who use us at lunchtimes.

“It’s a great pub.”

The Crown is open seven days a week. It serves food from midday to 2.30pm and from 5pm until 9pm Monday to Thursday and all day at weekends from midday until 9pm.

A new quiz night will start on Tuesday, February 28 and will take place every other Tuesday from 8.30pm.

Entry is £1 per player and there are cash prizes to be won.
