Kettering Town Football Club have revealed where they hope to build a new multi-million pound stadium.
Speaking exclusively to the Evening Telegraph, club chairman Imraan Ladak said the Poppies intend moving away from Rockingham Road by 2011 to a purpose-built football and health complex at the Kettering Business Park on the A43/ A6003.

The Poppies have been searching for a new ground because the lease on its A-Line Arena at Rockingham Road is running out and it does not meet Football League standards.

Mr Ladak revealed the club has been working confidentially with the Duke of Buccleuch's company Buccleuch Property for the past 12 months.

The company has been looking to find the best partner to fund and enable the building of a new stadium to meet Football League criteria before the start of the design and planning process.

And, while the plans are still subject to obtaining planning permission, Mr Ladak has targeted the start of the 2011/12 season for the club to move into their new home.

The Poppies chairman said: "While our plans will of course be subject to a successful planning application, these are very exciting times for Kettering Town.

"After the extensive process of selecting a partner, matters have progressed very quickly and I am certain everyone will be as thrilled as we are when they see the plans – which we expect will be in the not-too-distant future.

"Integral to our plans is the ability to provide the use of health and sporting facilities to all the residents of Kettering.

"We hope the general public embrace our plans for the project and its facilities to be intertwined with the community, not just for the benefit of our supporters.

"Absolutely everyone we have spoken to is right behind our plans and I believe there is a strong residential and political will to support the club.

"There will never be another viable solution for sustaining professional football within the borough of Kettering and hope has finally been replaced with belief."

News of the club's plans was welcomed by the town's MP Philip Hollobone, a club supporter.

I'm not a football fan and never attend matches unless i'm being paid to but I must admit that in the last few years a lot of positives have come out of KTFC that are benfitting the town - not least having something to celebrate.
The current site at Rockingham road is restrictive and I hope that planners give this a favourable hearing and a speedy resolution.

The fans will be taking their hats of to the Duke of Buccleuch as they walk through the turnstile.

Why not site it in the town centre? Plenty of empty shops just waiting to be knocked down, and the council are building some banked seating in the market place!

About time! The site on Rockingham Road is too small and totally inappropriate.

Personally I am sick of having to avoid that end of time when there is a home game. Seeing verges churned up with illegal parking. Sitting in traffic when I've been unlucky enough to meet the supporters coming out, many of which walk in the road because of sheer volume of people in a crowded residential area...
No space for coaches to park meaning that the away team coaches have no choice but to block the road in order to offload... which then backs up the road and the police have to control. That roundabout is a accident blackspot as it is!

So what they going to do for the next 18months to 2 years to alleviate what problems they already know they have?
Atleast provide some park and ride facilities!

I'll believe it when I see it.
