Musicians, dancers, jugglers and other entertainers are wanted for a charity fair.
Kettering Centre for the Unemployed (KCU), an organisation which provides adult education courses, wants entertainers of any kind to perform at its mid summer charity fair on Saturday, June 20.

Maggie Don, centre co-ordinator for KCU, which is in
Stanier Close, Kettering, said: "Hopefully the performers can give their message, attract more members and collect money if they want."

A children's country dancing troupe and a street dancing group have already signed up.

Thirty charities and community organisations, many local, including the Theatre Group, a group based in Kettering, Cransley Hospice and Phoenix, a youth group based in the town, will have stalls explaining the work they do.

The money raised from the event will go to KCU and Kettering Children's Holiday Fund.

Mrs Don said: "We offer training to people who are out of work and that is a growing number of people at the moment, so it would be good to get some support."

The fair will be held in Lower Street between the clock and the post office.

KCU organisers are looking for entertainers to perform around the clock in half-hour slots throughout the day.

The fire and rescue service is planning to bring a fire engine along and children will be be able to play on the vehicle.

Other organisations manning stalls at the event will include Mind, Animals in Need, the Ethnic Minority Women's Association, the Girl Guides and the Sea Cadets.

The fair used to be an annual event until the council withdrew its funding eight years ago.

KCU, which was also funded by the council until four years ago, decided to start holding it again without the council's help last year.
Mrs Don said: "I hope people will find something different from what they usually find along the High Street.

"They will be supporting fundraising and it will be things which help out in our community."
