Scores of revellers cheered and threw coins into buckets for charity as the procession of floats made its way through the town centre.

A brass band lead the parade, followed by Kettering carnival court and those from Corby and Wellingborough.

Wellingborough Royal Blue Lancer Majorettes performed for the crowds and there were a host of floats, including the United Theatre Group and a steel brass band.

Vintage cars joined the procession from a display at Wicksteed Park.
Judy Hodges, 40, of Finedon, said: "My mum passed away last week and she came to the carnival every year, so it brought back a lot of memories. We put £10 in the bucket for Cransley hospice because they looked after my mum."

Her daughter and mum-of-two Sarah Hodges, 21, of Charlotte Place, Kettering, took her children along. She said: "I bring the children every year. They dance along to the music."

Adam Moore, six, of Kettering, said: "My favourite thing was throwing the money."

The carnival started at the Grange estate and headed up Stamford Road and into town, before ending at the pleasure park in Rockingham Road for a fete. Proceeds will go to groups for the blind in Kettering.
